A theme (also known as template) is responsible for the looks and feel of your WordPress powered blog. Sometimes you may want to customize the theme as per your needs but the problem is that you may don’t know which file is generating that particular WordPress page on the front end. That’s where a nifty plugin named as What the File comes to the rescue.
After installing this plugin, you don’t need to configure any settings. Visit the front-end of your website and you’ll notice a new addition to the WordPress admin bar. You just need to hover your mouse over “What The File” and then you can see which PHP file is responsible/generating the current page.
Click on this template name and then you’ll be taken to the Dashboard where you can edit the same file.
This plugin would really come in handy for WordPress beginners who are not much aware of templating system. Those who are working on theme development will also benefit from this plugin.
Note that you need to enable the toolbar from back-end, just in case if you’ve disabled it. To do this, go to Users -> Your Profile and check mark “Show Toolbar when viewing site.”
