WordPress 3.8 comes with a brand new admin color scheme. The new design is bright, bold and beautiful. No longer do you need to see the old greyish color scheme across the entire admin. The new version of WordPress comes with a total of 8 different admin color schemes, and you can select any one from them. Let’s first learn how to change the admin color scheme in WordPress.
Changing Color Scheme of WordPress Admin
WordPress will display the ‘default’ color scheme by default. To change this color scheme, go to Users > Your Profile. Alternatively, if you’ve enabled the toolbar, then simply hover over your name from the top-right side and click on “Edit my profile” link. You’ll now be able to see eight different color schemes.

From here, simply select a color scheme of your liking and you’ll notice that the color will change instantly. That’s all you need to do to change color scheme. Finally, you’ve got some cool color choices for the WordPress admin.
Add More Color Schemes to WordPress Admin
Not satisfied by only 8 color themes? Well, some might desire for more color schemes and that’s why there’s a plugin for that. Enter Admin Color Schemes, a plugin developed by a group of designers that gives even more color choices to users. The plugin adds 8 more color schemes, which means after installing this plugin, you’ll get a total of 16 color schemes. More options are good, right?

Note that there’s no any other option page for this plugin. Just install, activate and select your preferred color scheme from your profile page.
For sure, the new admin color scheme option gives a much-needed modern and refreshed look, compared to the old boring look. Those who spend quite a time in the admin area would love to switch between these color schemes to find out what best works for them.
