Easily Fix imagick is not installed, or has been disabled

If your site is showing “The optional module, imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled” message under Site Health then it means this particular extension “imagick” is not installed. In this short tutorial, you’ll learn how to install imagick and fix the issue on the site.

What is Imagick?

Imagick (or ImageMagick) is basically a PHP extension that is used to create and modify images using the ImageMagick API. Installing this extension is optional but recommended to improve the image quality for media uploads.

How to Install Imagick on your WordPress site

To install Imagick, you’d need access to cPanel or web hosting control panel.

Login to cPanel, go to “Select PHP version” from Software section and click on it.

From the next page, click on “Extensions” and then on “imagick”. This will install the imagick PHP module on WordPress site.

That’s all you need to do.

If you’re not seeing the extension on this page or you don’t have access to cPanel then an easy way to install Imagick would be to contact your web host and they should be able to install this Imagick module for you.
